Jeff Kent played 17 seasons for the Blue Jays, Mets, Indians, Giants, Astros and Dodgers…Kent’s 377 home runs are the most of any player who played at least 75 percent of his games at second base, and his 351 home runs as a second baseman ranks first all-time…A five-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Kent won the 2000 National League Most Valuable Player Award and finished in the Top 10 in three other seasons (1997, 1998, 2002)…Among players who appeared in at least 75 percent of their games at second base, Kent is the all-time leader with eight seasons with at least 100 RBI…His 12 seasons with at least 20 home runs also are the most ever among that group of players…Among middle infielders who played at least 75 percent of their career games at second base or shortstop, Kent’s 1,518 RBI rank third behind only Cal Ripken Jr. and Nap Lajoie and his RBI total is the top mark among second basemen whose careers began in the Live Ball Era (post 1919)…Kent is one of only two primary second basemen/shortstops, along with Ripken, with at least 350 home runs, 550 doubles, 1,500 RBI, 1,300 runs and 800 walks…Kent is one of only 13 players at any position on that list.
