Player Biography
A strong, left-handed clutch hitter with a keen eye, Leon “Goose” Goslin logged 11 seasons with a .300 or better batting average – and just as many with at least 100 RBI. Goslin’s bat helped lead his teams to five American League pennants, including a victory in the 1924 World Series with the Washington Senators, and he contributed the Series-clinching hit for the 1935 Detroit Tigers. The carefree outfielder was just happy to play baseball: “They didn’t have to pay me,” he theorized after his career. “I’d have paid them to let me play. Listen, the truth is it was more than fun. It was heaven.”
