When he learned to control what he threw with his gifted left arm, he became the best pitcher in baseball. Koufax used a blazing fastball and devastating curve to dominate the National League for five seasons (1962-66). Before his career ended prematurely due to injury, Koufax had tossed four no-hitters, including a perfect game against the Cubs on September 9, 1965.
