The variety of sports subjects included pugilists, skaters, swimmers, wrestlers, a pool player and others. Only 4 of the 50 cards features baseball players, none are Hall of Famers. “Celebration” was created for autograph seekers. 44 of the living Hall of Fame members at that time agreed to be included in the set.

  • Each card individually serial numbered
  • Measure 3.5" x 5.5"
  • Released in 1989
  • Limited Edition of 10,000
  • Player Biography
Although Bob Lemon debuted in the minor leagues as a position player, managers recognized his strong throwing arm and transformed the outfielder into a major league pitcher. During one nine-year span, Lemon logged seven 20-win seasons and helped propel the Cleveland Indians 1948 and 1954 pennant drives. Lemon later became a successful manager, leading the New York Yankees to a World Series victory in 1978. New York Times sportswriter Steve Cady once wrote: “The line on Lemon is that the next person to say something bad about him will be the first.”
