This Brooks Robinson Hall of Fame home plate by Barnwood Sports measures 11 inches across, with the player’s name and number, and includes the Baseball Hall of Fame logo as well. Made from distressed wood, this plate weighs roughly 2.5 pounds and has a semi-gloss finish that works well for autographs. As sportswriter Jim Murray declared: “When Brooks Robinson retires, he’s going to take third base with him.” Nicknamed “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” for his fielding prowess, Robinson’s career – spent entirely with the Baltimore Orioles – resulted in 18 All-Star selections, 16 Gold Glove awards and 268 career home runs – a then-record for American League third basemen. He starred in the 1970 World Series, hitting .429, making a host of defensive gems and winning the Most Valuable Player Award. “I once thought of giving him some tips but dropped the idea,” said fellow Hall of Fame third baseman Pie Traynor. “He’s just the best there is.”
