Carl Michael Yastrzemski won three batting titles, was named to 18 All-Star teams and played left field in front of Fenway Park’s Green Monster virtually flawlessly. Owner of both 3,000 hits and 400 home runs, Yastrzemski stated in his Hall of Fame induction speech, “I can stand before you today and tell you honestly that every day I put on that Red Sox uniform I gave 100 percent.” The 1967 American League Most Valuable Player spent his entire career with the Boston Red Sox, leading the league in runs scored, doubles and slugging percentage three times each.
