2005 Upper Deck Hall of Fame card #99 of Ty Cobb featuring a reproduction of his Hall of Fame plaque image!  This 100-card set was released in July, 2005. The set was issued in four-card packs with an $150 which came packaged in their own tin. Those tins were issued 20 to a case. Cards number 1-85 feature regular cards of Hall of Famers while cards 86-100 are issued in the style of the Hall of Fame plaques. All cards 1-100 were issued to a stated print run of 550 serial numbered sets, with colored parallel sets numbered even lower.

“I never saw anyone like Ty Cobb,” said Casey Stengel. “No one even close to him. That guy was superhuman, amazing.” Cobb was among the game’s fiercest competitors. His batting accomplishments are legendary – a lifetime average of .367, 4,191 hits, 12 batting titles (including nine in a row), 23 consecutive seasons in which he hit better than .300, three .400 seasons (topped by a .420 mark in 1911), 298 triples and 2,245 runs. “The Georgia Peach” also stole 892 bases during a 24-year career, primarily with the Detroit Tigers.
