Jake Beckley was a consistent power hitter, run producer and skilled first baseman for 19 National League seasons. With 13 seasons hitting better than .300 and a lifetime batting average of .309, the turn-of-the-century star was fittingly dubbed “Eagle Eye.” Beckley totaled 2,930 career hits, including 246 triples, and was consistently among league leaders in many offensive categories, including extra-base hits, total bases and slugging. He holds the career record for putouts by a first baseman with 23,731 and his 2,376 games at first base ranked first for seven decades.
